The Duty of Decision Making.

The ability to make decisions on a moments notice is very critical. Sometimes when a person has a lot of different options in front of them, they freeze up. This is why you should get really good at making quick decisions that you are okay with. Spend less time thinking about the yes or the no, and more time thinking about the implications of either side once you have chosen. I once heard the vice chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, Charlie Munger say, something along the lines of “it’s much better to make decisions quickly and change your mind slowly”.

There’s nothing wrong with changing your mind as long as it yields the desired results you seek to obtain. However, if you’re too wishy-washy or indecisive about the initial yes or no, you’ll never make enough progress on worthwhile ideas or goals. This is why it may make more sense to decide right away, while thinking about each aspect of the yes, versus the no. You’ll have plenty of time to weigh the pros and cons after the fact.

Write it down.

The act of blogging, or writing down your thoughts seems to be extremely beneficial. You allow yourself to organize or untangle the many questions, theories, and beliefs you have. You can begin realizing whether or not you are learning, getting better at something, or diminishing. You get to challenge others opinions, but more importantly you get to challenge yourself. You put yourself on the spot.

You need to formulate an understanding or opinion on something that influenced you to move in a specific direction based on current as well as past ideas. You get time to free up more space within the brain to remain open to future updates. You may or may not change your views over time, with new information being processed. Writing and blogging also allow for you to become a better communicator, or worse. It really depends on if you’re goal is to create more clarity, or just to make more noise.

Writing and blogging has helped me to get ideas out of my head. It has also helped me track my understanding of various subjects of interest. If you have not already, maybe you can try journaling or blogging. You might discover how it improves your own life.

Mastering my clarity.

Trying to figure out what I’m a master at or the best at is my goal. I’ve spent years studying ideas and philosophies. Never really buckling down and putting these ideas to work. Maybe a few of the ideas actually gave me results but the ones that would have yielded the most results remain untried. Now I’m at a place where I’m tired and frustrated. I know I have some youth left. I feel I have the work ethic and will to win. I feel I can and will adapt to the changing circumstances that come my way. Currently I’m trying to work towards and develop the little things that are necessary. I just really want to finally nail my vision. Bringing clarity to that vision is one of the ultimate goals. I believe I am closer to it now than ever before. Now it’s just a matter of upping my wor ethic.
