Yeah I said it…

Not everybody that has social media accounts is outgoing. Not all of us are into posting selfies and showing off the latest fashion. We are not all the life of the party. We are not all conversation starters. No not all of us with access to social media care about your opinion of what we post and how we post it. Some of us need a break from this circus. Some of us need to refuel in order to continue trying to find our own lane of self-love and self-worth on the world’s fastest active highway (the internet). Not all of us want to share every microscopical nuance, detail, or crevice of our complete being. Some of us need a minute to think things through. Some of us are overly stimulated by superficial ideas of a fantasy that seems to be reality whenever we pick up these mindless devices. Not all of us want to complain about politics that have very little to do with taking care of ourselves and loved ones. Not all of us want to be lit 24 hours a day. Some of us need meaning. Some of us have perspective. Some of us desire a simpler way of doing while managing complex thought patterns. We are not all exactly alike. We do not all laugh at the same things. But one thing we all are is human, if that makes any fucking sense at all. In conclusion, I still have a 9 mile race to complete in about 20 days and it annoys me to only speak on that part of the journey. So yeah, I’m not good at being an airhead. But I am good at being an asshole. More accurate I’m good at being myself. Being who I am is okay. Being who you are is okay. You don’t need acceptance from an outside source. Just live your truth, and be creative, be thoughtful, be decisive, and be inspiring. Not necessarily for others. Mainly for self. But of course if it helps someone get through their day, you done more than enough with your precious time.

Back in hiding.

In the last year and a half I’ve spent much more time posting on social media. Instagram has been my new favorite. Yes I’ve had Instagram for a while. Just started as a myspace person. Evolved to Facebook, and stayed dedicated to Facebook for years.

Than I hated seeing the negative activity from people I knew. So I spent more time developing my Instagram content. Now I’m to the point where it’s all too much. I’m not quitting. I just needed a short break.

It’s very taxing mentally and emotionally devoting your time to staring at a screen, creating hashtags, trying to be hip, or sell products. Some days it seems forced. You get insecure when nobody likes your post or you have a low view count. If I continue down that path I’ll never get back to being happy with the ability to be myself. Regardless of likes and peer reviews of my ideas.

Who gives a shit what you think of me!? I know I’m flawed but I still love me. Regardless of my social media activity. I can go on but why bother?

The End.

How sway? (Kanye West Voice

EI find it interesting that everybody wants to know how you did something, but none of those people are willing to try an ounce of what it took for you to actually do it.

It’s like they ask for comfirmation that you cheated or have special gifts.

No! That’s not how this works at all. Yeah some people are born into wealth, but most peopke have to grind. Most people have to wake up earlier, and go to sleep later every single day for decades until something takes off.

There are no overnight successes. There are no handouts. You have to either be in the right place at the right time, or work your way into the right place at the  right time. Stop whining and start working. You’ll find out how they got tp the top by getting there yourself.

Every single day.

What 3 to 5 things do you do every single day without missing a beat? Now imagine if those 3 to 5 things were directly related to your next big goal?

Once you engage in certain behaviors on a daily basis without needing to remind yourself, it becomes a way of life. The same way you might shower a few times a day without missing a day is the same way you should attack your goals and dreams.

Take a few action steps every single day. don’t miss a day without working on part of or all of your dreams and goals. This way it’s no longer goal setting or dream chasing, but more so who you are, and who you became.

The more you practice constantly working towards ideas, the easier it gets to succeed and see them through.

Daily is key. Doing something daily build character, trust, discipline, and a shit ton of momentum. So make a promise to yourself to act on a goal every single day for the rest of your life. This way authenticity turns into reality.

It’s on you!

Regardless of what other people do or don’t do, you are and always will be responsible for your own success. Getup  everyday and do at least 3 things that move you closer to your ultimate goals in life. Otherwise you can’t go around blaming others for your misfortune. It’s all on you at the end of the day.

You against You.

The biggest battle you’ll ever face is the one you have with yourself. All day everyday you will experience pain, doubt, and failure. People will tell you things that might hurt you, but it never compares to what you tell yourself.

The key to mastering the battle with self is pure honesty, incredible work ethic, and a lot of patience. Your mind will always try to play tricks on you. You must be strong and know how to concur those negative thoughts with positive ones.

Not everyday will be a celebration, or full of accomplishments. Some days will  be meant simply for recharging, and refocusing your thoughts.

As some of the greats often say, Thoughts become things.

Did you get the sale?

If you are not in constant motion when it comes to selling your idea or product, you’re losing potential customers. Everyday you don’t write a blog post, or buy an ad (do those really work) or help someone out without asking for anything in return you lose. Staying on the mind of a potential buyer is extremely difficult during the beginning but worth the effort later on.

Discipline.

I just got done watching one of my favorite music producers and writers talk about discipline.

He has sone great points I’d like to expand on.

Discipline is doing what you have to do even when you don’t want to do it. Discipline is making sure that everyday you have what you need without having someone tell you all day long.

Discipline wake you up in the morning without an alarm, and makes you want to get enough rest to be coherent the next day. Discipline is the key to a lot of your success.

Stay disciplined people.

Everything counts.

Everything in life counts. Every job, every conversation. Every piece of art, every single opportunity that comes across your desk is the most important.

Why? Because it will guide you to make better decisions moving forward. Before you write something off consider the butterfly effect.

The critic is everybody.

We live in a world full of critics. Everything you think, do, and are is criticized to no end. Some people criticize just because. Others suffere from a childhood complex while the rest are just trying to sound intelligent, and or keep a job.

Growing will be and is a lot more difficul for younger people because of such behavior.

The only way around it is to know who you are on the inside, and outside. If you know what you bring to the table, and are okay with the results, ignore the rest and serve your purpose.

Rule of every hour

lieWhat if you practiced a certain method of accomplishing goal?

Lets say you had a every hour method of doing things. Basically you’d accomplish one goal per hour all day long.

This would make us so much more productive instead of destructive. Paint for one hour, homework for another, workout for the next, spend quality time with family and friends for another etc.

If we looked at time on a per hour basis we’d really see the benefit in focusing and getting as much done as possible.

Wishing for wishes is weak

Those who possess wishful thinking wish for nothing more than that. A wish.

Good luck with that. Fortunately there is a better way of getting things done, that way is getting up and doing it.

Whatever it is you want, need, or desire can be yours if you shut up and put up. Take action, move moutains, walk the walk. Show up.

Every person can dream or wish, or want. Not every has the guts or resources to put their plan into action.

Be action packed or proactive.

Going deeper…

Don’t you ever think about earths creation? What the first english spoken word was? Why everything happened exactly the way it did?

Ask questions. Question your thoughts. It’s perfectly okay to be curious. It’s good to dream, and wonder. Just don’t allow yourself to lose that.

Being present makes you an automatic standout

Every single day is a grind. The process of never giving up on dreams worth pursuing is what you should be hung up on. Not in a negative sense of the phrase of course.

You get good at things when you constantly show up and put forth effort. Some people think the key to success and grinding is based solely on who you know, or degrees.

No. Not entirely. A huge part of getting the job done, passing the finishline, or manifesting your desires, is all in how often you show up.

In hip-hop there is a saying that goes: “if you don’t grind, you don’t shine”.

Master the art of showing up everyday.

The pep in ya (your) step!

It’s not even about getting to the top or moving from the bottom to the middle, up to the top. It’s about maintaining the character to get up everyday to do what you are supposed to do. It’s about having the courage to dream even when you are unsure. It’s about staying focused regardless of good times or bad times.

Get right with yourself, so you can conquer the world!

When everything is on point

One of the greatest feelings in the world is having all of your stuff together. Bills paid, good health, drama free relationships, and a reason to wake up everyday.

Often we have so many things to get to on our to-do list that it makes stopping and smelling the roses a quick jog through the garden.

A few times a month, or year we get to soak it all in and breathe deep.

My take on homelessness

When is comes to being homeless, it’s not that you lost all of your money. What you did was burn all of your bridges, and you refused to do what is actually the easy task of showing up to work everyday.

Personal relationship carry you a really long way in life if you treat them well enough to maintain. Proper planning also doesn’t hurt. If you can’t see where you’re going to begin with, you’ll be sure to run into a wall or two.

The absolute best way to keep from going homeless? Do for others. Become an asset on some level in multiple people’s lives. Both to friends and family. As well as an asset to strangers.

Originality

Originality is being yourself at all times no matter what is going on around you. Never following trends. Never looking at what they are wearing, or thinking about. Being original is being brave. Originality is 1 of 1.

Unfortunately we live in a time where everything is copied. Yes a lot of things have already been done before. Yes that makes innovating that much harder. No that doesn’t mean you should just fall in line. Get creative. Get bold. Push for something never heard before, seen before, or experienced before.

So what if it worked for that person. It doesn’t mean it will work for you. Live the way you want to live. Not like everybody else.

Expresso!

Every single day if you don’t accomplish something that pushes you ahead of the pack…

Every single day if you don’t live with a purpose…

Every single day if you don’t allow yourself to learn something new…

Every single day if you play games with your time…

You will not prosper, you will not land that job, you will not get to where you really want to be.
Do all that you can do to be all that you can be.

Well, have you done it already today?

Everyday we get another chance to do things differently, better, and to be more accurate in our delivery. Everyday there is something that needs to be done. Beyond laundry. Beyond eating. Beyond the normal daily stuff.

A connection needs to be made. A transformation of insight needs to happen. Something meaningful needs to happen. Something big, or something small. Make it your business to be responsible for making that necessary connection.

Seth calls it making art. Not painting. Not musically. More so the feeling that occurs between two or more people when they genuinely mix energies. Holding a door for someone who just insulted you. Treating different people differently.

It can be with friends, or family, or strangers. Go.

Rule of index (get it?)

If ever you are not prepared for something (interview, test, date, life) don’t make it obvious. Your posture should read “prepared”.

But than again, not being prepared is what put you in a powerless position in the first place.

Forget the top part. Always be prepared! And prepare IN ADVANCE! For every possible situation!

A tip on work ethic

If you create a piece of work everyday no matter what happens, a blog post, a record, a workout session, a painting, something good will happen.

You’ll feel the need to formulate more and more content, and ideas everyday. You will feel an emptiness if you don’t fulfill that creative void.

Learn to constantly create in order to become great.

Intuition, and decision making are your compass

Following the crowd is easy. An already drawn map is hard to miss-read and get lost following.

The challenge: knowing which direction to go even when everybody seems to be sticking together in a different direction.

Any level of success is based off of decision making. When you become good and than great at decision making, your chances of success rise.

Stop basing your next move on what everybody else is doing, and where everybody else is going because you’ll either stay in one spot or have to deal with a lot of traffic.

It must stop

The pressure to be great, perfect, and popular is media driven. Tv-ads make it okay to get plastic surgery, buy the newest gadgets, and sign up for the missed fine print in false insurance policies.

When will we get smarter about our consumption of information?

We’re taught to be fat, go into debt, and buy unnecessary items to forget about our responsibilities momentarily. In order to fix it we must come to together and fight for our rights.

The problem?

We think everybody is out to get us.

A different (maybe not to you) way to increase creative out-put

If you blog, do thy everyday.

For other things:

Music, painting, collecting, thinking, sketching, sowing, building, engineering, communicating, exercising, collaborating….

Don’t do it everyday. You’ll start out. As the days progress, you’ll become irritate with this weird idea that everything you do is the same as yesterday. You’ll think that nothing you’ve been doing is cool, innovative, and different. You won’t be satisfied at all. Than you’ll put in less effort because you have truly exhausted yourself of most, if not all of your ideas. Depression, loneliness, pessimistic retreats. The works. It all goes to shit by than.

Instead of pressing every single day, try waiting 7 days. While doing your other majors projects/project/goal once a day everyday (you at least need something to do once a day even if it’s something small).

On the seventh day create for as long as possible the whole day. Push for greatest the entire time. Until you sweat and wanna go to sleep or cry.

You’ll create some of your very best work in what seems to be an effortless manner.

It might not work for everybody. Give it a shot anyway.

Are you going through this too?

Feeling like shit.
Not believing in yourself.
Eating until you nearly throw up.
Hating everything and everyone.
Being rude all of the time for no specific reason.
Sleeping in later than usual.
Going to bed at the very latest of hours.
Wanting but not working.
Working and not wanting
Lack of a social circle.

This my friends is a quarter life crisis. Or maybe even some of what a mid life crisis is.
Look out for them if you can. They are no fun. And it could cost a lot for some.

My opinion on how to defeat such a phase:

Stay inspired.
Never stop creating new ideas.
Never spend too much time alone.
Get out more.
Eat new foods.
Don’t shop under these conditions.
Remember that it’s only a phase.
Write about it and share it with a friend or two.
Move on.

Motivation for your ass

Don’t settle. Don’t quit. Don’t doubt yourself. You were made to be the very best at what you do.
Don’t be the person that only does enough to get by. Don’t be the one regretting everything you’ve ever done at the end of your life.

Push for change. Push for more. Push for adventure.

What you give is what you get. Yes it’s corny but it rings so true to each and every one of you.

Talking about it and actually waking up everyday and doing are two different things. People can talk all day long. It’s the ones that consistently grind everyday that get the results. The ones that push themselves past whatever limits they once had.

The best is yet to come, so when that time does get here: Dammit I hope you’re ready for it!

More productivity please!

If you truly want to get the most out of your time…

  1. Decrease your tv time by at least 85%.
  2. Don’t go to parties or special events mores then 2 twice a month.
  3. Buy a smart phone if you don’t have one.
  4. Work on a very small project or touch up on a big one little by little every single day.
  5. Don’t go a day without working on something that you’ll thank yourself for in 5 years.
  6. Sleep in between 4 to 6 hours. (No more, no less).
  7. Stop gossiping.
  8. Don’t eat and work at the same time.  One or the other.
  9. Write about your experiences every single day and share them with 10 people.
  10. Get used to saying “No” A LOT!
  11. Don’t spread yourself too thin.
  12. One or two projects at a time.
  13. Keep some type of written list somewhere in your room or office of goals or things accomplished. Date the list.
  14. Don’t question your heart. Question your mind.
  15. Drink a shit ton of water everyday.
  16. Listen to lots of music while you work.
  17. Help 5 people everyday in some way. Any way. Just make sure you help them.

This list has done wonders for me in both big and small ways. Maybe it will do the same for you.

Part 4 of my rant.

So far I have created, accomplished, and manifested EVERY SINGLE THING I have ever wanted!

You don’t think that becomes addicting?????????

It’s a gift. It’s a curse!

People are afraid because of what they might become. But when they are not that thing they bitch about life being lame. They bitch about not getting the opportunity to speak up and do more with themselves.

THE FLOOR IS YOURS IN 2013 AND BEYOND!

Can’t you see it yet???????

Don’t stay here. Go there.

<strongHarsh realities of moving:

New faces.
New job.
New scenery.
New opportunities.
New food.
New stores.
New hangouts.
New everything.

Fear of the unknown.
Being surrounded by strangers that you have never ever known before.

Most of this can be a huge advantage if you choose to look at it that way.

It's a huge chance to grow on so many levels.
You are forced to grow or be completely overwhelmed and left out.

Pick the scariest route. The upside is worth the awkwardness.

The important of every art form

Being up for the last 24 hours, studying one of the worlds greatest artists, I realize how important art is.

What is art?

In this day and age art is doing something because your convicted with love to do it. Art is doing something because you care, and not because somebody told you to.

Art is freedom of expression. Art is color. Art is sound. Art is controversial. Art is inevitable to our culture. We can not live without art. When you show up to do what you love every single day with or without pay, you are creating art.

Appreciate art in all of it’s various forms because one day you will lose sight of visual empathy.

Art is having empathy for another persons vision.

Quick moments of my gratitude

It’s a blessing to know that when I die a lot more people will shed at least one tear for me.

Not because I’m gone.

Because of the work (writing, singing, entertaining, inspiring, supporting, building, connecting, networking etc.) I choose (was chosen for) to do every single day of my life.

Everything marketing!

Marketing! Marketing! Marketing!
Everything we do is represented in a marketing element or space.

The way we smile. The way we do our hair. How much we laugh. Where we shop. What we eat everyday. The shows we watch on television.

Guess what? It is all some form of marketing!!!

Get use to being a marketer. It will change the way you do everything once you become conscious of it.

Did you bake that yourself? I’ll have another!

Effective marketing is giving out small pieces everyday without missing a day.

Notice I said nothing about tv ads. Nothing about people paying you for those small pieces. Nothing about some type of untouchable secret that only the elite know.

Free is the key to a good start in any marketing campaign, until you can earn the listeners trust and attention.

If the fan, consumer, supporter, and or reader is willing to eat a small piece of your idea, eventually they will buy a whole piece.

Creating enough display pies of excellence is what separates the best of the best.

Marketing troubles

Let’s talk a little music.

Me being a  local musician I see the troubles of marketing every single day.

Here’s the issue with most local artists in my area: YOU NEVER HERE FROM THEM ON A CONSISTENT BASIS. You might not think so but that’s a huge problem. It’s especially the worst when you’re in a position that gives the listener more power (every time they don’t hear from you).

If your starting out and your releasing a song once a year or once every 9 months don’t expect to do big numbers come release day.

You can’t get to know people on a once a year/every 9 months basis and learn to trust their sound. It just doesn’t cut it. People love a little bit of you everyday along the way.

This means you really have to start valuing your strongest social media presence (what network do people pay the most attention to you on?). No we won’t listen to every thing you do or like every post but we as listeners appreciate your effort and want to be able to say to the next doubter “This is a great artist and he updates me every single day on how he’s feeling or what he’s working on even if I don’t have the time or want to listen.”

As listeners we need reassurance that you’re not going to lie about releasing your long-awaited album or mixtape. We want proof through video, picture (2 of the biggest proofing tools you have as an artist), social media updates, contests, and more.

Now when your Kanye West or Taylor Swift you don’t need to yell into the microphone (the internet) as much about who you are because the power is already shifted.

Take it from me: the people want to know what your up to even if they ignore you. (Guess what? They still know how to read!).

I hope I end up saving at least one music career with this post. If not I’ll keep working on saving my own.

Perfect/Imperfect

We all live in a world where everything seems perfect. Our careers. Our partners. Commercials. Every movie we watch. Every product we own. It is an obsession. We go as far as pointing out the flaws we find in each of these things and getting pissed off that it is not perfect.

Then we give a 30 minute speech on how they could have made all of the ideas and things mentioned above seem more perfect.

What’s a world without flaws? Nothing but a crystal ball. Stiff and boring after 3 shakes of action.

Striving to be perfect and striving to become a better you are two different things. Remember to embrace your imperfections along the way and learn from them. Keep in mind that they don’t go away.

Everyday

Everyday you get the opportunity to do it right. To start all over again. Everyday you get a second chance to perfect your life or get it going in the right direction.

Day after day it never changes. The chances are there. The time is there. The moment to act now is there.

It’s just a matter of you actually buckling the seatbelt until it clicks and not stopping until you end up at Disney World (which means your personal definition of success).

Re-adjust

When something does not go your way. When things don’t come out right. Hitting the reset button is so appropriate. As humans we always tend to believe that because something happened a certain way the very first time, that it will always turn out that way no matter what.

Not true. Things change . People. Weather. Colors. Life in general. It all changes. The tricky part about it is things have to be reset for everything in the future to change.

You can not leave every situation with the final result that came about.

It would be like saying “you only have one chance for everything you’ve ever wanted in life.” This is so not true.

We will always have more than one chance, but if ever we do lose all of our chances in life for a certain desire it just means that the timing will never be the same no matter how many times you reset things. Another thing to think about is before your given the verdict about the last chance, you have what seems to be and usually is an unlimited amount of chances going into things.

In conclusion live as if this is your last chance but prepare as if it were your first every time.

Yes you are dammit!

You are obligated to be great. You were not put on this earth (however you believe you got here) to just be normal. There is already too much regularness (not a real word) going on in society. Why not stray the other way? Our bodies are so unique in every way. Therefore it is only right (our right) to be just as unique in every other way.

Jump high. Walk far. Laugh louder than you have ever laughed before. Cry hard (but not often).

Live completely. Live fully. Live beyond being realistic. You allowed to dreamed. You were meant to dream (and dream big). You are not just a generality. You are that spark of genius (I use that term lightly) we need to get more things done.

Everyday somebody is watching your every move. They are hoping you lead the way and take them someone special. Everyday that goes by is an opportunity lost in reality and in spirit. You must get started on something great. You are punishing yourself by sitting around doing absolutely nothing.

There is a problem with that.

You are in charge of making moves.

You are obligated to do something great!

Yes you are dammit!

Don’t argue with me.
